Jack Champaigne ’80 met Diane (Schueler) Champaigne ’80 when both welcomed new students while serving as Carroll orientation mentors. Jane Hamilton '74 witnessed the impact of scholarships while a student at Carroll by seeing how it helped a friend fund her education. Those memories later motivated Jane to give back to current students by establishing the Hamilton Family Foundation Endowed Scholarship for students in the arts.

A trip with friends to 威斯康辛州’s picturesque Devil’s Lake State Park during her sophomore year at Carroll pushed Jill (Griffis) Kubiesa ’10 toward an activity that she at first declined, 说, "No, 那不适合我."攀岩. With the encouragement of her friends and fellow Pioneers, 虽然, she built up the courage to give it a try before the trip was over. She discovered she enjoyed it, so much so that she later turned it into a career.
